IKKI HINO Profile
IKKI HINO was born in Osaka, 1977.
Influenced by his father Akira Hino, a legendary free-Jazz drummer, he has been played with drum sticks since his childhood.
He showed his remarkable musical ability in his high school as a leader of the marching band, and later as a Japanese Taiko drummer after joining the JGSDF.
Since then, he has served as a principal Taiko drummer, composer, organizer, and music director.
In 2002, IKKI formed a Taiko drumming ensemble "Taiko-Shu IKKI" with three people and has performed extentively in Japan.
The group visited Taiwan for the music festivals as a Cultural ambassador in 2004, and toured around the country.
Soon after they become the first Japanese domestic Taiko groups to be invited to national tour in Ukraine, where they performed for President of Ukraine and the nation's greats. Their one-month-and-a-half touring, which was broadcasted on TV and othermedia, created a big sensation in Ukrania.
As a solo Taiko drummer/musical director, IKKI has collaborated with such great artists and companies as DJ SHIRO AMAMIYA, the SIS Company (Japanese leading theatrical company), and dancers in The Forsythe company, the world-renowned dance company of contemporary dance/ballet.
This time, he challenges himself to be the first Japanese to have street lives in Eastern Europe to communicate with a lot more people directly through a real Japanese Taiko sound of soul, which could touch hearts beyond people and nations.
For nine years, I perform a workshop to Waseda University, the foreign student of Aoyama Gakuin University.
